The blue building on the left was once a Richfield Service Station. For many years the daily Greyhound Bus stopped here as it was going both North and South. I delivered the Spokane Cronicle newspaper on a route in town. So, every evening I waited for the bus to drop off the newspapers. Cars just drove through the corner that is now enclosed. Later it was closed up and became an auto body shop for Madison Motors, the Ford dealer. Since this photo was taken, this building has been transformed into The Green Frog Cafe. With outside seating, it is a classy place for visitors and locals.

The next space East was the location of the Sweet Shoppe. This place was known for ice cream, candy and cheeseburgers. A cheeseburger with potato chips was 25 cents in 1946.

Next, East of the Sweet Shoppe, (and I may not have these in correct order,) was a tavern with smoky windows. We kids did not go in there of course.

The space that is now a mini park was a meat market. I don't know if it burned or the roof fell in, or what happened to result in it being demolished.

The White Building that is now the Library and City Hall was the location of Daves Grocery Store.

Just East of the Grocery Store was the Western Auto Store owned by Max Herrington. Dad bought us new bicycles at this store in 1948. He also bought some shoes for us that had zebra striped soles. My brother and I both hated them because other kids at school teased us about our "zebra shoes."
