THE RECORD THAT HAD TO BE |
Neither Neil Diamond nor Barbra Streisand
Had recorded a duet before,
In fact, neither one of the two of them
Had opened collaboration's door,
Two urgent calls from their respective agents
Told them what was going around,
A fabricated duet on the black market
Sold like hotcakes -- no royalties found,
They saw the writing on the proverbial wall --
Quickly recorded the authentic thing,
Now they reap the profits of legitimate labor --
Only we know the truth when they sing.
