![]() The stock 14" wheels have been replaced with 15" Thunderbird turbine wheels. The stock Mercury hubcaps are in the trunk. The power is a 351 V-8, same as the Thunderbird. We really like this old Mercury. A writer on the web states: "One of the most outrageously baroque, yet elegant and proportioned designs of the 1970s was the Cougar Brougham 4-door. Quite a rarity, Mercury sold only a few thousand each year. This car was one of the few of the 1970s, which managed to combine a Mark V profile (long hood, short trunk) on the formal 4-door, and opera windows in the C-pillar, as well as a striking vertical waterfall grille. However, even with all this style, the Cougar 4-door was remarkably affordable. Hard to believe that so few were sold, and that so few survive (which is unfortunate)." |
